Chip Hardt is the firm’s managing director.
Chip began his career as a naval officer, serving as a helicopter pilot in the Persian Gulf, and an officer on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.
After graduating from the Harvard Business School in 1994, he began work at McKinsey & Company’s Chicago office, serving a wide range of corporate, non-profit, and government clients. His areas of expertise include operations, lean manufacturing, purchasing and supplier management, and strategy.
Chip led McKinsey’s Chicago e-commerce accelerator, which served start-up and growth companies. He was also the leader of the Midwest Public Sector Practice, and a partner in the global Purchasing and Supplier Management, Operations, Telecom, Social Ventures, and Automotive practices during his 14 years at the firm.
Chip serves on the board of directors for CouponCabin.com, one of the city’s leading internet companies. Through Hardt Enterprises, he also serves as the chief operating officer for Sol Xorce LLC, a development-stage alternative energy technology startup.
He received a bachelor of applied science (mechanical engineering) from the Moore School of Engineering and a bachelor of science in economics (entrepreneurial management) from the Wharton School of Business, both of the university of Pennsylvania. He also received a masters in national security studies, an interdisciplinary international relations program, from Georgetown University.
Chip helped to found, and was a member of the senior management team for Chicago 2016, the city’s bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He serves on the boards of Junior Achievement of Chicago, World Sport Chicago, and the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago. Chip is the father of 9 year old twins.
